Trust Technique Practitioner : Building Trust

Practicing the Trust Technique with your animal is like meeting a new friend and staying up all night talking. You’re re-discovering each other on a deeper level. You are truly getting to know them and they are truly getting to know you and it will have a profound effect on your relationship.

What is the Trust Technique:  It is a non-dominant, non-controlling technique which is based on the idea that animals and people share feelings. You’ve probably heard that it is important to not feel scared when you are near a horse or a dog because they will sense this and react to it. This is an example of sharing feelings between you and an animal. In this situation you are sharing the feeling of fear but we can also share and react to good feelings. We can share the feeling of peace to help reduce fear and gain trust.

Behaviour is a reflection of how we are feeling. If we can change the feeling we can change the behaviour.

We create a peaceful feeling that our animals react to. What we are saying to the animal is: Right now you can be peaceful.

At first the animal will not understand that it is you who is sharing this feeling with them and making them feel relaxed. Through repetition they begin to associate this calm and peaceful feeling with you. Regarding and listening to your animal during the sessions helps to support the process of letting go and becoming more peaceful. Regarding and listening to your animal helps you to learn about them and better understand how you can help them. The animals feel considered and listened to. When your animal realises that you are listening and responding to them they begin to share more with you. The outcome is that the animal self-learns to trust, communication increases, confidence builds between you and your relationship becomes stronger.

Using the new trusting relationship we can now start to help the animal to overcome areas in its life that are causing problems. We help them learn how to manage their thinking levels. They look to you to help them know how to feel during a situation which they would otherwise feel un-peaceful about.

The Trust Technique can help with issues including but not limited to:

Fear aggression, Chewing, Fear of leads, Separation anxiety, Weaving, Sensitivity to touch, Hyperactivity, Pulling, etc.

If you would like to strengthen the relationship between you and your animal do not hesitate to get in touch.
